Q: What happens during the Client Install Process?

A. After running the SETUP program on the client, you will need to perform a power down re-boot. When the system has been shut off, you will need to attach a SecuriKey User Token and power the system back on. After the system reloads, you will find a SecuriKey System icon located on the desktop. Click on that icon. The client install process will continue. The Install process will check for the presence of the SecuriKey Token drivers. It will check for SecuriKey user accounts created at the SecuriKey Server. It will make sure that the current user has Administrative rights to the local machine. It will check to make sure that Windows 2000 or better is the current operating system. It completes the installation process by copying additional files to the workstation.

Q: What happens if a user locks the station and then loses his token?

A. The SecuriKey administrator can use his Administrator's token to unlock the workstation. Then he can use the SecuriKey Administration Manager to cancel the lost token and issue the user a new token.

Q: Can I use SecuriKey with more than one USB port or on an attached USB hub?

A. If your system has more than one available USB port or if you have a USB hub attached to your system it is advisable to enable SecuriKey on each port. This is necessary because Windows gives each available port its own unique address. This is why we recommend that you attach the SecuriKey token to each available USB port on the system during the SecuriKey Client Installation process before SecuriKey has been activated. If you add a new USB hub after SecuriKey is already running, or if you wish to enable previously un-initialized USB ports after SecuriKey is already running, you will need to follow these steps:
  • Disable SecuriKey

  • Reboot the system

  • Attach SecuriKey to each available USB port. The found new hardware wizard will load the SecuriKey drivers each time for each port.

  • Re-enable SecuriKey

  • Reboot

Q: Can I customize the Greeting Screen?

A. The SecuriKey administrator can use the Customize tab on the SecuriKey Administration Manager Properties dialog to customize both the graphic and the message.

Q: I need to program 100+ tokens. Is there a way to program more than one SecuriKey token at a time?

A. Yes, simply obtain a USB hub with 10 or 20 open ports. You can attach tokens to every available port during the "Programming User Tokens" step as described above.
